The locations on the interactive map aim to bring Masaryk’s life and career closer, especially for the period of the interwar Czechoslovak Republic and beyond its borders even (his residences, the places connected to his university studies and political activities, his travels, lectures and so on). They also attempt to capture both the commemorations and the politically driven erasure of Masaryk’s activities and legacy from the cultural memory of the various regions and among their citizens (primarily by identifying the different monuments and giving their histories). The map represents the result of a collaboration between the Masaryk Institute and Archives and local institutions as well as with several individuals. At present, the individual entries are only available in Czech and Slovak. If you are interested in a specific location, do not hesitate to contact the project coordinators.
